The average age in the parish is 31.5. The city of Baton Rouge itself has a population of 227,818 citizens. The average age of a citizen in the Capital City is 30.4.

Baton Rouge Race

The race of people living in East Baton Rouge Parish is: 56.2% white, 40% black, 2% Asian, and the balance are "other". The race of people living in the city of Baton Rouge is: 50% black, 45.7% white, 2.6& Asian, and the balance are "others".

The average income in Baton Rouge is $37,224. 34.6% of the population earns less than $25,000. 11% of the population earns more than $100,000 per year. 13.2% of the population in Baton Rouge is below the poverty level. 73.4% of the population works for private employers. 21.4% of Baton Rouge's citizens works for the government. 5% are self employed.
