Cajun Seasonings

Put some cajun seasonings on the jambalaya.

Food just doesn't taste right without some good old Cajun seasoning (also known as Creole seasoning) on it. Personally, I shake at least a little Cajun seasoning on almost everything now: eggs, grits, seafood, Cajun roast, cracklin, and almost anything you can think of. Once you get hooked to it, whether you are a Cajun or not, you will become addicted. Let's go over some of the hottest Cajun seasonings on the market right now.

Tony Chachere's

One of the most well known names in Cajun seasonings is Tony Chachere's. The company has been around forever, and I'm willing to bet that 99% of the homes in Louisiana have at least a bottle of it in their kitchen. Why not? This is some good stuff. Their main seasonings are: Original Creole Seasoning, More Spice Seasoning, Creole Gumbo File, Lite Seasoning, Salt Free Seasoning, and Spice N Herbs Seasoning. Tony Chachere's also makes several injectable marinades, fish fry and batter, roux and gravy mixes, and they even have a few cook books.

Zatarain's

A company that is deeply rooted in New Orleans culture, Zatarain's makes some great Cajun seasoning. Their main seasonings includes: Cayenne Pepper, Creole Seasoning, and Gumbo File'. They also sell a lot of boxed Cajun food including Etouffee Mix, Gumbo Base, Pinto Bean Seasoning Mix, Red Bean Seasoning Mix, Shrimp Creole Mix, and White Bean Seasoning Mix. Zatarain's is a great choice.

Tabasco

We wouldn't be doing our job without mentioning Tabasco. The company is known around the world now. Made right here at Avery Island, Louisiana they make: Tabasco Pepper Sauce (from little condiment size bottles to gallon jugs), Green Pepper Sauce, Sweet & Spicy Pepper Sauce, Chipotle Pepper Sauce, Habanero Sauce, and Garlic Pepper Sauce. The company also has a ton of Cajun specialty items including: Spanish Olives, Pepper Jelly, 7 Spice Chili, Cajun Ketchup, Chicago Fire Mustard, and many others. We really love Tabasco!

Slap Ya Mama

I love their name, and Slap Ya Mama is really becoming popular for their great Cajun seasoning. Their main products includes: their original Slap Ya Mama Original Blend, White Pepper Blend, Hot Blend, and Seafood Boil (great for crawfish, crabs, and shrimp). It really goes well with any Cajun food.
