Colleges In Baton Rouge

Love LSU in Baton Rouge!

There are many excellent colleges in Baton Rouge. If you are considering attending a college or university in Louisiana, Baton Rouge has many to choose from including: LSU, Southern, Baton Rouge Community College, Our Lady of the Lake College, Delta College, Remington College, and Camelot Career College.

The primary college in Baton Rouge is the Louisiana State University (LSU). LSU is the flagship university of Louisiana. They offer degrees in almost every conceivable field of study. As a major university, LSU has over 32,000 students on its campus. Football games at LSU are world famous, and it is not uncommon to have more than 140,000 people on the campus during a game. If you are searching for some things to do in Baton Rouge, tailgating at Tiger Stadium is a great idea! Tuition and fees at LSU for full time resident students is $2,295 per semester. Tuition and fees for full time nonresident students at LSU is $6,445.

The other major college in Baton Rouge is Southern University. Just as with LSU, Southern offers a wide variety of degrees. Sadly, Southern is a "black college". I personally find their racist system to be archaic and ridiculous, but to each his own. If you are interested in attending a public education regime that openly calls for isolation of the races, tuition for resident students registered full time at Southern is $1,833 per semester, and $4,729 for nonresidents.

The Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is one of the fairly new colleges in Baton Rouge. BRCC began offering two year programs in 1995, and it already has more than 6,000 students. Full time tuition and fees for students at BRCC is $888 per semester for residents, and $2,292 for nonresidents.

My wife graduated from Our Lady of the Lake College (OLLC). OLLC offers many degrees for students in medical fields including nursing and radiology. There are over 2,000 students at this private Catholic college in Baton Rouge. Their main campus is located directly behind the Our Lady of the Lake Hospital off of Essen Lane. Tuition and fees for full time undergraduate students at OLLC is $3,492 per semester.

Some of the smaller colleges in Baton Rouge are the Delta College, Remington College, and the Camelot Career College. These institutions are extremely affordable, and many choose these first before moving on to a university such as LSU.
