Crawfish Pets

A pet crawfish could be your friend.

I swear that I did not realize that adults actually have crawfish pets until I found this information just a few weeks ago! I still can't get over it. I'll tell you what though, they sure are a lot cheaper to feed than a dog, and the vet bills can't be much at all. I have a feeling that I could buy a couple thousand crawfish pets with the money we spend on our French Poodle every month.

It makes a lot of sense actually. You know how much people enjoy having aquariums. They are so fascinating to look at. If I could find someone to come to our house and clean it every week for free, I would love to have one. It also makes sense that a crawfish would make a nice pet in the aquarium. They live pretty long, they are so fun to watch, and there are some really colorful varieties. If you just do a Google search for "crawfish colors" you will see what I mean. Some of our little crayfish (dumb Yankee term) friends are almost a fluorescent blue! Who wouldn't want to look at that in a tank? It makes good sense to me. In fact, I'm starting to talk myself into buying a new pet.

If you are like me, you must be wondering how much people spend on these "exotic" pets. I know that I can buy a big 40 pound sack of them for around $30 (or for free, thank you family!). There must be a thousand or more in a sack, so I am spending a few pennies on each little bug. If that's the case, how much are collectors spending on them? Doing a quick search, the cheapest one that I could find was 70 cents, and the most expensive one was $60 (plus shipping)! Holy smokes! $60 for one of my little backwards swimming friends?
